Tips about Traveling With Dogs From UK to France to Switherland
To travel with your dog, several official requirements must be met:
- Ensure your dog is microchipped.
- The dog must have received a rabies vaccination at least 21 days prior to the date of travel.
- Obtain a health certificate from your veterinarian no more than 10 days before your intended travel date. This certificate remains valid for approximately 4 months.
It's important to note that as a British passport holder, you are generally allowed a maximum of 90 days within the European Union (EU). Fortunately, the health certificate obtained for travel within the EU will also be valid in Switzerland.
Additionally, there is a requirement to visit a veterinarian between 24 and 120 hours before returning to the UK. During this visit, the vet will administer the necessary worming tablet and endorse the health certificate accordingly.
